I am renno who took my 2006 tdi Jetta from Nova Scotia to Jamaica in 2009 . it currently has done 120,000 km... still a baby!
Bad diesel caused replacement of the "valve" which regulates that (forgot the name) Now we get high-grade diesel fuel. Another major problem was necessity to replace the flywheel . Despite all this I love the vehicle and it drives beautifully even on the rough roads. Current problems are a broken bracket for the alternator and the fan for the air-conditioner needs...
